Rasmussen just released a new poll, showing John McCain ahead of J.D. Hayworth by 22 points!
AZ Sen Poll: McCain Opens Primary Lead
Sen. John McCain® has known from an early stage that he could face a tough primary in his bid for re-election this year, and acted on it. He already launched radio ads touting his effort to block President Obama’s “extreme left wing crusade.” And just this week, Sen.-elect Scott Brown® recorded robocalls that went out to voters in Arizona.
Now, a Rasmussen poll (502 LVs, 1/20, MoE +/- 4.5%) shows the Maverick just over 50 percent in a potential matchup against former Rep. JD Hayworth—not the best position for an incumbent to be, but an improvement over the dead heat Rasmussen found in November.
Hayworth has not entered the race yet, but has been publicly flirting with it for some time. Meanwhile, McCain’s camp announced this week that his former running mate, Sarah Palin, will campaign for him in late March.
Favorable Ratings
McCain 74 / 23
Hayworth 58 / 25
Simcox 28 / 23
I think McCain is going to win.
Why don’t you believe that health care for all Americans is a good thing? After all, you’re a US Senator, very rich, and the GOVERNMENT provides you with the best health care that the nation has to offer. With over 48 Million individuals and families in American with little or no heath covering, what do you propose they do? Just saying NO or this ridiculous (STOP OBAMA)talk is not a solution to this problem. What is your solution John McCain? Please respond.
The question implies that compulsory Health Care doled out by the government and paid for by incredibly high taxes would be better than what is now available. Most of the socialistic countries around the world have compulsory health care but the quality of care is much lower in those countries than in the USA. How many of Obama’s puppets would opt for going to Idia or rpmania to a hospital? Romania. What about India? All of those people would give anything to come to America
The government has done a terrible job of running health care provided to veterans via the veterans’ hospitals. The vets have had to wait a long time to get appointments and then were provided minimal care with proactive services being denied. The government has done a terrible job of running Medicare health care to older Americans, including the now existance of the “black hole” and Medicare gap of prescription coverage services. What makes any one think that the government can run a health care program for the rest of us? Those of us who have been around for a while know that it is sure folly to believe that this pie in the sky great idea will be anything but a huge nightmare. Thank you Sen. McCain for helping to protect us from it.
The Senator from Az has a big bull horn..her name is Sarah Palin…any HC at all has to be balanced every year and not changed and ammended like the Democratic Party has done since the inceptin of Social Security! No borrowing against it and IF you do.. it must be paid back to the fund with interest. Both partues have borrowed against the Social Security Fund ..why else is it in such trouble. Research it!
First I have tremendous respect for Senator McCain and his service to our country. I do not feel he is corrupt and isn’t a crook, like many in Washington.
There are items that Senator must explain to me to get my vote in the primary:
1. Why he supported amnesty for illegal aliens. I was impressed that he later said, “He got the message on this bill” and the bill was scrapped. This was my first demonstration in the summer of 2008.
2. He needs to explain to all Republicans how he almost choose Senator Lieberman to be his Vice President running mate.
3. He needs to prove he can manage a campaign when he couldn’t manage to control members of his campaign when they went after Sarah Palin. And why it took him forever to address this issue and indicate his support for Sarah.
4. What prompted him to “suspend” his campaign and turn to Washington to “fix” the financial melt down… and then “do nothing”.
5. Why he is currently attacking J.D. Hayworth with significantly more enthusiasm that he attacked Obama. He had the opportunity to save the country from Obama, but held his punches.
6. Why he is using negative attack ads against J.D. Hayworth. I am not a big fan of J.D., but it suggests a level of desperation to use attack ads this early in the campaign. McCain should be able to point to his record and highlight what good he has done for Arizona. If he can’t find anything to “brag” about, maybe he doesn’t deserve to go back to Washington representing Arizona.
Senator McCain, I have great respect for you and will support you, however, the issue about illegal immigration cannot be ignored, amnesty should not pass, our fellow Americans need their jobs and illegal immigration is taking them away. As for the rest, just please help take our Country back from the dirty hands that are holding it hostage right now.
Go McCain!! I can’t believe JD hasn’t taken the hint yet and dropped out. He’s such a joke, and should have stayed on the radio where he belonged.
Sir;
Be careful of people who are used to having microphones in their face, and reading teleprompters (and the like). He is about as qualified for the Senate as “That One” is for the office he currently is in.
Oh. By the way. When the VA got the form, proving, beyond a shadow of a doubt (in block 32), that I was given, free of charge (of course ... military medical facility), a fatal disease, along with a blood transfusion after medivac.
I FAXed the form to them. Their response. “PROVE IT.”
I thought I did. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!
RRD USAF//Retired (Not by choice, of course, but you already know why.)
J.D. Hayworth is a hired hack, paid and bought by corruptocruds like Jack Abramoff…and if he couldn’t hold his rather “safe” GOP House seat in 2008 what makes anyone believe he could defeat a Democrat in the Arizona gneral. Vote McCain, save America!
