Posted in Announcements

Senator McCain is kicking off his Veterans’ coalition for his 2010 re-election campaign at the American Legion on 7th Avenue and Van Buren on Thursday, February 18, 2010 at 9:30 a.m.  He will be accompanied by fellow POWs George “Bud” Day and Orson Swindle.

Bud Day

Bud Day is a Congressional Medal of Honor recipient and one of the most highly decorated service members since General Douglas MacArthur, having  received over seventy decorations.  Colonel Day was shot down over North Vietnam in 1967 and spent the next five-and-a-half years in captivity.

Orson Swindle is a former U.S. Marine pilot with a very distinguished military career.  Mr. Swindle was shot down over North Vietnam in 1966 and spent the next six years in captivity.  Mr. Swindle was an Assistant Secretary of Commerce under President Ronald Reagan, and was a Federal Trade Commissioner from 1997 until 2005.

Both Day and Swindle met John McCain while the three were POWs during the Vietnam war.

The Veterans’ coalition kick-off event will include a town hall as well as a reception for an opportunity to meet the Senator and his fellow POWs.  Seating is limited, so if you are interested in attending, please RSVP at the link below.

It is important for every republican, independent and even Democrats to stand up and be counted as supporters of Senator John McCain. As an author, screenwriter and former Navy Submariner, I urge you to pass the word, John McCain is the ONLY man who can represent Arizona in Washinton. His record of achievements is undeniable. Let’s all do whatever we can to support this great man.

Oops! Washington!

I agree with Lee! If we want America to get back on track, we need a true conservative hero. JD certainly isn’t the man for the job - his records indicate that he votes in favor of BIG spending. McCain is the only one who can lead our country back on the right path!

I definitely will be there to support Senator McCain!

John will win re-election.  America still needs him in the Senate.

I do wish he would respond to America’s Cold War Veterans and Support The Cold War Medal act…especially during these little Veterans tours.

The American Legion unanimously voted to support the Cold War Medal…what is stopping you John?

Is it possible to award US medals of honour to those who are not US Citizens?

Wishing you all the best regarding your treatment, Don.

Why thank you Emmet. I did not expect that! My cancer was removed from my tongue leaving me with only a sleight lisp. I am now asking John McCain for help with my Atomic Veteran’s claim. Tom McCanna in the local office, has been very helpful.

Glad to read that. I hope your compensation claim is just as successful.

Does anyone know when Sarah Palin is coming to Phoenix? I know she is and wanted to go see her and John. Wondering about price of tickets, etc. Plz, any info would be helpful. I’ve Googled, Yahooed till my fingers hurt. Thanks all.

Mr. Don, I see you’re just around the corner. I’m on Mesa/Apache Jct. borders in Mesa.
I sure hope you have good luck with your medical issues. You’ve really “been there when needed” also, like Mr. John M.
There are too many vets that don’t seem to be getting the medical help they need and from the little experience I’ve had with my uncle (Vietnam vet) the facilities/care at the hospitals isn’t what it should be for those that need it. I’m a little ashamed. The nurses are great. Dr.s seemed nice enough. Uncle has words to say about his VA hospital I won’t repeat.
Anyway, I hope all turns out well for you. Great page that you’ve put together also! Thanks

I found the info. thanks

Today I had the distinct honor and pleasure of meeting Senator McCain at the Legion Hall. He is truly the real deal. What I like about this man is that if he doesn’t know an answer, he says so and will get back to you. And he will! There is “No Bull” about this guy. He supports us here in Arizona and in Washington. We need to give him our support. I urge you to urge your family, friends and nieghbors to get out and support this fine man. America needs to keep his voice in the Senate.

This was a great success! Senator McCain is a Veteran we can all be proud of. I have only met a few people in my life that I can say inspire me and he is one of them.
